Week 2 of Summer

We kept ourselves busy this week with all sorts of things!

MONDAY

Joshua started earning an allowance while he was at his Grandparents and we decided to keep it going now that he's home. So, what to do with all that newly earned money? We decided it was time for Joshua to learn about saving and giving. So now Joshua has four banks. One for tithe, one for saving for larger fun items, one for college and one for spending now. At the end of each week we will count up how much he has earned and give 10% to each of the tithe, saving and college banks and then the rest he can spend or save for later. This is great for practicing his math and for learning the importance of giving back to God and making wise choices on what we spend our money on. His first big purchase? Darth Maul's light saber.

TUESDAY

Today we went bowling, using a great program called Kids Bowl Free. This is our second year taking advantage of it and it's perfect, since Joshua loves to bowl. Check it out at http://www.kidsbowlfree.com/!

WEDNESDAY

Off to the library, where we always check out an over-stuffed bag full of books. This is always one of Joshua's favorite spots. We also visited with Joshua's Kindergarten teacher from a couple of years ago. She tutors him in Spanish over the summers so he keeps up with the language and is all ready for school next year. Joshua also tried out his new scooter for the first time. This was another fun birthday gift. He did great!

THURSDAY

Today Joshua had a play date with a great friend from church and school. Joshua and Parker have been friends since they were babies and always have a great time imagining together. We also finished his thank you cards to all his friends that came to his birthday, so we took them to the post office to mail them off. Later in the day Joshua tried out his new drinking glasses. Doesn't he look great in glasses?!

FRIDAY

Today was beach day! We really don't live too far, so I'm trying to make more of a point to get Joshua out to the beach as much as possible. He loves the sand and digging holes and watching all the people. It was really windy today, though, so we didn't stay too long. We couldn't even put our umbrella up, because the wind was so strong! We still had a fun time though and someone even left a nice hole for Joshua to do some digging in.

SATURDAY

Today Joshua had Taekwondo in the morning and then we decided to go back to the beach! We had an early dinner at home and then headed out, this time with Daniel. It was so much warmer with a perfect breeze.
